Watch.io indexes shows from numerous sites, both large and small. Hulu, Crackle, YouTube, the CW, WB, CBS and countless others are all available on Watch.io

You can even search across Netflix and Amazon Prime and premium pay per view sites like iTunes, all with a single search.

Without even logging in, you can create a list of episodes to watch at your convenience and use the Watch Widget for Chrome browser to watch them when you want to.

Bittorrent Alternatives

Has bittorrent finally seen its day? After years of using bittorrent to download and watch your favorite tv shows, the technology is starting to look obsolete while streaming tv has nearly caught up with demand and is replacing bittorent for many former downloaders.

Top 5 reasons to abandon bittorrent

  1. Streaming from legal sites is now almost always faster.
  2. For new shows, it's illegal, and there's a risk of being sued.
  3. There is always a risk of downloading a virus or malware of some sort.
  4. The lifespan of torrent sites these days seems to be measured in months.
  5. Torrent sites are prone to frequent outages and DDOS attacks.
So, now that you've decided to give it up, where do you go to fill the gap? Fortunately, a handful of sites have stepped up to index tv show sites like the old bittorent sites did for torrents. With Watch.io, for example, you can find TV shows and movies to watch for free online in a matter of seconds.

Watch.io indexes content from Hulu, the CW, CBS, the WB, PBS, and NUMEROUS others. Now, you don't have to remember where to watch 90210 or whether you can watch Gossip Girl  on Hulu or the CW. Just search for it on Watch.io and click the link. All links go straight to the watch page.

A big bonus for former torrent lovers, Watch.io doesn't use advertising and it's 100% legal, so there are no popups and no worries about being sued.

Searching Watch.io From Chrome Browser

The following simple video shows how to use the Chrome browser, with Watch.io to quickly locate full episodes of tv shows and movies. This option is added automatically to Chrome after visiting Watch io for the first time.

Easily Watch TV Online

Watch.io has a new feature. Now you can create a personal list of TV shows and movies to watch online and watch them at your convenience.

  • No login required
  • Include shows from Hulu, Crackle, WB, CW, TNT, etc. You can even add Netflix videos if you have an NF account.
  • Easy to use. Click the Q button next to results to add it.

This simple (and kind of ugly) presentation demonstrates how to use it.

Hulu Alternative

Hulu is one of the most visited sites on the internet, but it isn't for everyone. While it is unique, there are options available for those who no longer want to use it for whatever reason.

Almost all of the TV stations that publish TV shows on Hulu have the same episodes available for viewing at their own website. The trouble is, where is is. Hulu covers a lot of networks and makes it easy to find the show you're looking for. Fortunately, other sites, like Watch.io, have you covered. Watch.io indexes the location of most TV shows and movies available for free or subscription on the net and let you browse or search through them easily. You can even create a list of episodes to watch and watch them at your leisure. You don't even have to log in.

There are other sites like Watch.io that provide a nice alternative to or complement to Hulu, but it's definitely the best and easiest to use. If not, check out Clicker or Spreety.

CastTV Alternatives

Web TV has come a long way in the past decade. Although it still lacks uniformity or any meaningful standards, most tv shows are available to watch online for free if you can find them. While Hulu has many of the top TV shows, several top network only allow Hulu to use a few of the available episodes or none at all. This seems to change with the wind and will probably not get any better if and when Hulu is sold.

Enter the TV and Movie search engines. A handful of sites have created specialized search engines (of sorts) to index all of the major and minor players and provide a one stop shop. In order of best to worst, here are the top 10 such providers. All of these are 100% legal and free to use.

  1. Watch.io (AKA Watch It Online) indexes all major and minor tv shows and movies. It has one of the cleanest and fastest guis of any available online. It has no ads and a simple web 2.0 interface. Further, searches can be made from most modern browsers. In Chome, type watch.io and hit tab to search watch.io directly. Also, links are tightly managed to prevent spam and all links go straight to the player.
  2. CastTV.com - CastTV is still a player, but is getting a little long in the tooth. Over time, the interface has gotten cluttered with irrelevant videos from YouTube.
  3. Spreety.com - Owned by AOL, this unpopular site offers an index of tv shows and movies, but they tend to run behind.
  4. TV.Blinkx.com - Blinkx is probably the largest of the bunch, TV.Blinkx allows sites to submit their feeds for inclusion in the index. Unfortunately, while that makes it the largest, it also makes it full of spam.
  5. TV-Links.eu - TV Links has been reborn, of sorts, with a new domain extension. This is a good alternative to Watch.io.
  6. Sidereel.com - Sidereel has a bright, attrative interface. It's not as cluttered as some, but is a little flash & image heavy.
  7. XFinity.com - XFinity has a friendly interface that is easy to use and is even better than Watch.io. My only complaint here is that pay-per view programs are mixed in with the free stuff and it's not easy to view and browse only free content. Also, only Comcast users can register.
  8. Hulu.com - Yes, Hulu offers links to other sites video content. If they don't have it, they link to it. There is no easy way to browse such content, so Hulu is best left for Hulu's own content.
  9. Clicker.com - This entry has a decent interface and a complete listing.
  10. OVGuide.com - Like many others, this site has everything mixed in, clips with full length, and they don't link straight to the content.
Web TV should have progressed much further than it has, but at lease there is one that seems to be getting it right. Any guesses which one. That's right, Watch.io is quite simply the fastest route to the tv or movie you want to watch and it's 100% legal.

How to Legally Watch TV and Movies Online

Piracy is rampant on the internet, but for the past couple of years, it has been on the decline as new technologies allow former pirates to get what they want for free.

Several sites offer full length movies and tv shows. Unfortunately, finding one that interests you may be a challenge. That's where the intermediary sites come in. These sites are like search engines but highly specialized to index ONLY full length tv shows and movies and bypass all of the short video clips.

Watch.io is perhaps one of the easiest to use and is completely ad-free, which is almost unheard of on the internet, much less for TV.

Searching is easy and can even be done from within your browser search bar or on the site, which loads quickly.

To explore, use the show guide or just hit search without any input to list all of the most recent releases. Watch.io has several 'one click searches' featured on the main page. So, try this one if you like Classic TV or Classic Movies.

Watch.io also allows searching the premium subscription sites like Amazon Prime and Netflix and iTunes, if the free sites don't have what you want.

How to Watch Cartoons Online

There are may cartoons available to watch online for free, at various sites. Cartoons vary in content and some are geared more for children, while others are targeted at teens and adults. You can search all of those sites and more at one convenient place that specializes in full length movies and tv shows, Watch.io. Use the links below to explore some of the freely available cartoons that you might enjoy.
